Cardiff Reunion Debut: Five Say It Will Be Extra Special (International Edition)

The 1990s British boy band Five are set to "rise and shine" as they launch their extensive UK arena tour in Cardiff.

After a lengthy wait of 25 years, many have eagerly anticipated this return. However, fans in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, hold the distinction of being the initial audience to witness the comeback performance of the original band members back on stage. The group has expressed that their reunion show will be both a "special" and an "emotionally charged" experience.

The ensemble consisting of Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Abz Love, and Jason "J" Brown hasn't played together as a quintet since their split in 2001 due to exhaustion, mental health issues, and conflicts behind the scenes.

However, the band thinks they will savor their success much more this time around.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the band moved over 20 million units before declaring in In February, they planned to reunite for an arena tour across the UK. .

“I’m deeply moved by this situation. Having my brothers return feels genuinely extraordinary,” Scott shared. INSPIRATIONS DIGITALRadio Wales .

Performing in Cardiff is truly going to be an extraordinary moment since we're starting the tour there. In those 30 seconds just before we step onto the stage, I believe there will be some emotional tears, and I'm quite certain about this.

The group was uncertain about the success of their tour ticket sales. J commented, saying, "Having been absent for a quarter of a century, you genuinely have no idea how you will be welcomed back."

However, Ritchie mentioned that he believes it's even more impressive this time: "It's incredibly enchanting; I never imagined we could make this happen—that all five of us will go out and do it once again."

Over the course of 25 years since the band split up and its members went their own directions, Abz relocated to Carmarthenshire to avoid public attention and took up farming as his new profession.

I may not be a farmer at all, yet I enjoyed it immensely. I had a few pigs, two alpacas, a pair of horses, half a dozen ducks, a couple of geese, several dogs—about five—and between three and four wildcats.

I have such fondness for Wales; I adore the locals, and I lived there for approximately two to three years.

The folks here are incredibly charming and welcoming, so I guess you could call this event somewhat like coming back home.

In 1997, five were selected through an intense audition process where over 3,000 hopeful singers tried out for ex-Spice Girls' managers Bob and Chris Herbert.

The group was subsequently signed by Simon Cowell to RCA Records under a five-album contract.

The popular tracks like "Everybody Get Up," "Got The Feelin'," and "If Ya Gettin' Down" were released one after another, but the latest INSPIRATION DIGITAL documentary came recently. Boybands Forever emphasized the strain the group experienced due to their demanding performance schedules, media engagements, and promotional activities.

"During those days, a group from our music scene believed they had to earn as much money as possible since their success was expected to be fleeting," explained Sean.

They never imagined a group like ours would embark on an arena tour. It had its challenging moments, but also plenty of fantastic ones.

Famous for their choreographed dance moves, the team intends to continue dancing and return to the stage, despite potentially feeling a bit out of practice.

"When you get back into the rhythm, with rehearsals and movements—‘I’m supposed to move here and then there’—it all comes flooding back," explained Abz.

I just need a small refresher for the lyrics, so I'll revisit my albums to refresh my memory about which sections belonged to me and clarify exactly what lines I’m singing and at which moments.

"I feel quite positive about these changes," stated Ritchie.

I'm excited to get back out there and move my hips again.

The 25-concert tour begins in Cardiff on October 29 and November 2, 2025.
