Former Health Minister Susan Nakhumicha has expressed gratitude via social media after being nominated by President William Ruto to serve as the Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat in Nairobi.

On X, Nakhumicha shared her deep appreciation in a post where she quoted a song from St. Martin’s Catholic Church Choir titled "Usenge."

"Kwenye moyo yangu, siomba kuongeza 'ahsante', ukifanya mafanikio ya kutumiwa na Mungu, maonyesho yanayotoka ulimwengu wetu... St. Martins Catholic Church Choir Usenge. Ahsante Baba Yeta!" Nakhumicha alivyosoma huku akasema hivi katika X.

On Thursday, a statement from State House announced that Nakhumicha was appointed as part of implemented alterations to the governmental structure.

"The Presidential Action, issued as Executive Order No. 1 of 2025, leads to nominations and transfers within the State Department, along with assignments to the country’s diplomatic corps," the statement read.

The State House mentioned that these modifications are prompted by the necessity to capitalize on the potential offered by rising economic sectors and to tackle issues impacting Kenya's societal structure.

Altogether, these modifications aim to expedite the execution of the Administration's key socioeconomic strategy, known as the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

On March 7, Nakhumicha shared details about her life following Ruto’s restructuring of his Cabinet in June when he dismissed several members, among whom was she.

In her address at Kitale, Nakhumicha mentioned that she has shifted her focus towards agriculture.

She mentioned that her main emphasis is on cultivating and marketing cabbages in Cherangany.

Nakhumicha was let go along with other Cabinet Secretaries following public discontent among Kenyans towards the government.

Deborah Barasa took over on August 8, 2024.

Earlier, Nakhumicha had asked Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit of ACK to pray for her inclusion as she faced significant difficulties following her abrupt removal from the government position.
