On March 21, 2025 (AL-MAFAZA, Gederaf State), Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Head of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Abdul Fattah Al Burhan, strongly restated allegations during a statement on Friday accusing unspecified nations of supplying advanced weaponry and unmanned aerial vehicles to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Sudanese army and government officials have consistently charged the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with supplying military backing to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), who have been engaged in combat against the Sudanese army since April 2023.
The Sudanese government has previously brought grievances against the United Arab Emirates before the UN Security Council and initiated legal action at the International Court of Justice, alleging that Abu Dhabi was complicit in the genocide targeting the Masalit ethnic group in West Darfur state.
At a memorial service for the head of military media, Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Ibrahim, held in the "Qalbi" district of Al-Mafaza locality in Gedaref State, Al-Burhan stated, “This militia possesses weaponry and drones which they could not have obtained without support from nations providing these arms."
He emphasized that future generations should not pardon their actions.
The people of Sudan should take a firm position against nations supplying arms to the RSF from this moment onward for the next thousand years. We cannot allow spilled blood to go unavenged, nor can we desert our cause.
On Friday, Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Ibrahim died alongside several military journalists and four members of the national TV team when a drone attack hit the Presidential Palace as they were covering the recapture of the head of state’s residence.
Al-Burhan reaffirmed the military's commitment to persist in combat until the RSF is completely defeated, stating, "We will stay true to the course set by those who have fallen, and we are resolute in our mission to quell this uprising and ensure that all perpetrators and murderers face justice."
He added, “There will be no negotiations unless they hand over their weapons and gather in camps… but as long as they are fighting, besieging El Fasher, and terrorizing citizens, there is no peace for them.”
Early on Friday, the Sudanese military declared that they had seized control of the Presidential Palace along with all governmental establishments in downtown Khartoum following several intense clashes with the Rapid Support Forces.
