The local people from Kogi Central have stated that the recent court order secured by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is facing difficulties as a representative for the Senatorial District, indicates that "she understands her position is almost over."
The injunction prevents the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from accepting a request for her removal.
Based on feedback from representatives across the five local government areas within the Senatorial District, people may commit unalterable errors when their motives lack sincerity.
They think this applies to Mrs. Akpoti-Uduaghan, particularly in how she formulated the court injunction statement.
On Friday, the Kogi Central Renaissance Assembly issued a statement wherein constituents contended that desperation has led the senator to dismiss the recall signatures as fabricated, an assessment that ought to have been deferred to INEC for resolution through their verification procedures.
It is absurd that the individual who labeled the recall process as fraudulent is now asking the court to prevent the electoral authority from considering or handling the petition, claiming that the signatures are fake.
Court Prohibits INEC From Accepting Alleged 'Fictitious' Petition for Senator Natasha’s Recall Group Criticizes Natasha For Misrepresenting Facts About Suspension Natasha’s Recall Process Deemed Unnecessary By GroupWe grasp your predicament. This appears to be a last-ditch effort to avoid the humiliation of a recall. However, as constituents from Kogi Central, we believe you've already brought shame upon yourself and our district. You will indeed return home.
"The courts are accessible to everyone. You cannot impose yourself upon us. This includes you; we believe you should be aware that your approach will not succeed," stated KCRA Coordinator Adeku Joshua and Secretary Maleek Sule.
The indigenous people from Kogi Central stated firmly that they would go ahead with the recall process to restore their reputation, as well as improve the standing of both their state and Nigeria as a whole.
"We, the Ebira people, do not condone extortion or misconduct. We fully support this action and intend to follow it through until completion. It must be made clear that we uphold high moral standards. Let us put an end to tarnishing our nation’s reputation globally due to baseless accusations without any proof," they asserted.
On Friday, a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State issued a temporary injunction prohibiting INEC, along with its employees or representatives, from processing any petitions featuring alleged "fabricated signatures" attributed to supposed constituents of the Kogi Central Senatorial Zone as claimed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.
