The maritime traffic between the Spanish port of Tarifa and the Moroccan port of Tangier was halted again on Friday because of unfavorable weather conditions brought about by Storm Martinho, as reported by the Port Authority of Algeciras Bay.
The crossings planned up to 2:00 p.m. have been cancelled, with the exception of the 8:00 p.m. ferry, whose departure will be determined by how the weather develops, according to the same source.
The current traffic disruption is one among several interruptions noted recently in the Strait of Gibraltar, all stemming from consecutive storms impacting the area.
In the meantime, the sea routes between Algeciras and Tangier Med remain operational as usual, as confirmed by the port officials.
Storm Martinho continued to affect multiple areas in southern Spain on Friday, with wind speeds reaching as high as 61 km/h along the Cádiz coastline, leading authorities to issue a yellow warning due to elevated wave activity.
Nevertheless, as per the Spanish State Meteorological Agency, there are presently no active weather warnings in the Strait region.
