PLI Scheme Sparks Creation of Over 26,000 Jobs in India’s Telecom Manufacturing Sector

New Delhi [India], March 22 (ANI): The telecom munications">Department of Telecommunications ( DoT ) notified the Production Linked Incentive The (PLI) scheme was launched on February 24, 2021, aimed at enhancing domestic production capabilities. telecom And network equipment in India will have an allocation of Rs 12,195 crore, as per the announcement.

The statement also mentioned that “By January 31, participants had committed Rs 4,081 crore, resulting in overall sales of Rs 78,672 crore, with exports contributing Rs 14,963 crore. Moreover, this initiative has provided jobs to 26,351 people.”

The guidelines for the program have been updated to enhance local manufacturing and adaptability. An extra 1% incentive has been added to promote design-driven production, specifically for items that are conceived, created, and produced within India.

The revisions also enlarge the authorized product roster by adding 11 new entries according to sector requirements. Businesses are now permitted to incorporate one or multiple items from this updated list anytime throughout the program’s duration and may choose to submit reimbursement requests every quarter.

The PLI scheme covers 33 telecom And network equipment, for which businesses can apply for benefits, as stated in the announcement.
