Taiwan Prepares for 2027: Military Drills Target Potential Chinese Invasion Year

Taipei [ Taiwan ], March 22 (ANI): Taiwan 's annual military drills has now set 2027 as a potential year for a Chinese invasion, signaling the first instance where a particular date has been cited for this expected assault, according to Radio Free Asia (RFA).

Meanwhile, China is committed to increasing defense expenditures following the urging of the United States.

Taiwan conducts the Han Kuang Exercise Each year, they evaluate their readiness for potential military action from China. This year’s drill, set for July 9-18, will involve coordinated efforts among the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. The exercises will encompass live ammunition firing, beach assaults, and mock missile attacks, according to RFA.

According to Taiwan The defense ministry stated that this year’s exercises will center on simulating the protection of the island through scenarios that anticipate a possible Chinese assault in 2027.

Taiwan The Defense Minister, Wellington Koo, announced at a press briefing on Wednesday that the Han Kuang exercises aim to replicate situations that might occur within the coming one to two years. He highlighted that acquiring advanced weaponry necessitates continuous verification of training programs to maintain combat preparedness, as reported by RFA.

This statement came after a warning from US Strategic Command Commander Anthony J Cotton during a defense conference on Tuesday when he said that China quickly enlarges its armed forces, the Chinese People's Liberation Army ( PLA ) may try to "take control of" Taiwan By 2027," according to RFA.
