Since 1981, the restaurant Georges Blanc in Vonnas, situated in the Ain department, in southeast France, held three Michelin stars. However, after over four decades, it has finally been stripped of its third star.
No other eatery mentioned in the renowned list belongs to this category. Michelin Guide had possessed a star for so many years.
The restaurant Georges Blanc has existed for 153 years and earned its initial star in 1929 thanks to the efforts of the current chef’s grandmother, who at 82 years old is named Georges Blanc. The Michelin Guide started granting stars to upscale eateries beginning in 1926. Then, in 1931, his grandmother, Élisa, secured their second star as well.
The Michelin Guide will unveil the updated roster of starred eateries on March 31st. Restaurants which have lost a star receive their notification beforehand.
