Xiaomi Debuts First Permanent Store in Japan: A Big Move for the Smartphone Giant

On Saturday, Chinese tech behemoth Xiaomi Corp. inaugurated its first enduring retail outlet in Japan, with the intention of enhancing sales by providing consumers an opportunity to engage personally with their premium smartphones and various electronic devices.

The shop, situated within an Aeon Retail Co.-managed shopping center in Saitama close to Tokyo, marks Xiaomi’s plan to open between five and ten outlets across Japan by the conclusion of this year.

More than 100 individuals lined up prior to the opening of the store at Aeon Mall Urawamisono, which carries over 160 distinct products from Xiaomi, such as mobile phones, televisions, vacuums, and kitchen gadgets. This manufacturer manages approximately 15,000 outlets globally.

Masaki Nishimura, a 32-year-old corporate worker who visited to purchase a new smartphone, mentioned, "I've been using a Xiaomi phone previously. It’s great news for me that I am now able to own one after testing out some of its features like the camera."

At a ceremony marking the opening, Li Gangjian, general manager for operations in the East Asia division, said Xiaomi plans to expand its number of stores across Japan to allow customers to experience how fun its technology is.
