BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Thinking about rescuing an animal but uncertain whether it’s the perfect match? The Lewis-Upshur Animal Control Facility offers you the chance to "try before you buy" with a temporary adoption option lasting anywhere from several hours up to a couple of days.
The Rent-a-Pet initiative was endorsed by the Upshur County Commission previously and permits specific dogs and cats to leave the shelter prior to completing the adoption process. This scheme enables potential pets and their future owners to acquaint themselves with one another before establishing lifelong cohabitation as partners.
Although many shelters require meetings prior to adoptions, the Rent-a-Pet program lets possible owners see how the animal will adapt to a new home.
Yet, you don't necessarily need to think about adopting an animal to bring one on an outing from the shelter. WBOY’s 304 Today lifestyle program host, Lauren Winans , often brings adoptable animals for strolls and stops at nearby shops in Buckhannon. The pets showcased during these outings are commonly highlighted on the program.
The dog named Jet in the aforementioned video is no longer available for adoption. However, numerous other adoptable animals can be found at the Lewis-Upshur Animal Control; you can view a complete list of these animals on their website. Lewis-Upshur Animal Control Facility website .
For additional information regarding pet rental, please stop by the animal shelter located on Mud Lick Road in Buckhannon from 10 AM to 2 PM daily except Sunday, or contact them at (304) 472-3865.
