
Crews of firefighters are dealing with a blaze consuming gorse in the Mourne Mountains.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) stated they received a call regarding a fire close to Silent Valley in County Down around 5:17 PM GMT on Friday.
At present, six pumps are on site engaged in combating the blaze.
This marks the second such fire in the region this week. Following reports of a fire on Altnadue Road near Castlewellan on Monday , thought to have been initiated intentionally.
On Wednesday, the Natural Hazards Partnership took action. an Amber Warning was issued for potential wildfires in Northern Ireland on Friday .
It was mentioned that dry and windy conditions increased the likelihood of a fire outbreak.
