India-EU Maritime Security Dialogue Unveils Strategies for Global Well-Being

New Delhi [India], March 22 (ANI): India and the European Union (EU) conducted the 4th India-European Union Maritime Security Discussion On March 21 in Delhi, the MEA issued a statement.

The team from India was headed by Muanpuii Saiawi , Joint Secretary (Disarmament and International Security Affairs) at the Ministry of External Affairs, along with representatives from the EU delegation led by Maciej Stadejek, Director for Security and Defence Policy at the European External Action Service, according to the MEA statement.

The parties discussed methods to maintain a safe marine setting that fosters broad economic progress and universal prosperity. They examined current collaborative projects within the maritime sector and explored expanding international and local frameworks aimed at ensuring complete maritime safety. According to the declaration, they concurred on enhancing joint endeavors in combating unlawful sea operations, safeguarding vital oceanic facilities, developing capabilities regionally, and undertaking training programs focused on building capacities.

They decided to schedule the subsequent round of discussions for a date that would be agreeable to all parties involved.

Previously, the third India-EU Maritime Security Dialogue took place on October 5, 2023, in Brussels.

As stated by the MEA, the Indian contingent was headed by Saiawi, the Joint Secretary for Disarmament and International Security Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs, whereas the EU team was spearheaded by Ambassador Joanneke Balfoort, who serves as the Director for Security and Defence Policy within the European External Action Service.
