KEVIN O'LEARY: Inside His Endorsement of the Trump-Charles Deal

Don't overlook the developing buddy bond between King Charles III and Donald Trump , explains multimillionaire businessman Kevin O'Leary.

"We're experiencing quite remarkable times with this," commented O'Leary, a star from Shark Tank and now a columnist for the Daily Mail, following the president’s enthusiastic support for establishing an unprecedented new U.S.-U.K. global alliance.

On Friday, Trump responded on Truth Social to an exclusive Daily Mail report stating that King Charles plans to suggest that the United States should join as an 'associated member' of the British Commonwealth .

"I adore King Charles. That sounds perfect to me!" the president penned.

The Commonwealth is a voluntary organization of 56 independent and equal states united by a commitment to democracy and the rule of law, among other Western values. King Charles is the head of the Commonwealth, a role he inherited from Queen Elizabeth II .

For O'Leary, this significant reversal and Trump's fervent reaction provides insight.

"People have become so preoccupied with the loud statements made by Trump that they fail to notice the underlying message," O'Leary stated.

As O'Leary refers to it, 'the noise' encompasses Trump's appeal to_make Canada The potential addition of the 51st US state along with the ensuing saber-rattling from Canadian officials.

However, O'Leary asserts that nobody is really taking into account the matter of Canada’s sovereignty, and the generated uproar about this topic stems from internal Canadian political dynamics since voters are gearing up for an election to choose their upcoming prime minister next month.

'[Acting Canadian Prime Minister] Mark Carney is clearly leveraging [the trade negotiations with Trump], regardless of their success, to galvanize his supporters into voting for him,' explained O'Leary. brushed off the conflict as a diversion .

Rather, O'Leary suggests that viewers concentrate on 'the message' Trump is conveying, which, according to him, points towards the creation of an economic alliance between Canada and the U.S., aimed at countering the rising global sway of autocrats around the world.

According to O'Leary, with a single action, Trump has the potential to establish the biggest global economic powerhouse – an entity committed to free expression and democratic principles.

'There’s this massive opposing force composed of China, Russia, and North Korea aligning together,' he says. 'So, how do you counter that? Through economic unity.'

King Charles understands this challenge, according to O'Leary, which is why the monarch is deliberately bolstering Trump's position in discussions with Canada.

The Daily Mail has revealed that Queen Elizabeth initially supported the suggestion of having America become part of the British Commonwealth during Donald Trump’s presidency, but this plan did not come to fruition.

However, it is once again under discussion at the highest echelons of the British government—and preparations are being made to unveil the plan during Trump's forthcoming state visit to the United Kingdom.

O'Leary believes that the Queen's early support for the proposal will significantly influence his fellow Canadians.

The Queen was undoubtedly the most cherished leader globally... and her influence remains deeply embedded within Canada’s fabric," he remarks, further stating, "Canadians take great pride in their historical connection and heritage with Britain."

"It's clever politicking [on King Charles's part]," O'Leary comments, and a demonstration of 'deference' by Trump.

A source informed The Daily Mail that "The Commonwealth serves as an excellent platform for addressing disparities among countries, and the King has demonstrated his aptitude as a born mediator."

Lastly, O'Leary highlights another 'indicator' issued by the president.

On Friday, Trump issued an executive order aimed at boosting immediate U.S. output of essential minerals such as copper, uranium, gold, and potash — a key component in fertilizers.

This step aims to reduce America’s dependency on Chinese imports of these materials, essential for both U.S. civil and defense manufacturing sectors.

However, according to O'Leary, it could take the United States many years to significantly increase its critical mineral output, whereas Canada is already a leading producer. "Developing such mines into profitable ventures can take decades. In contrast, Canada is abundantly endowed with these minerals."

'Interestingly, as Trump supported the Commonwealth proposal, he also issued an executive order aimed at eliminating laws and regulations related to the extraction of valuable metals within the United States.'

One of the reasons he aims for a highly effective, duty-free partnership with Canada is to secure market access for items such as precious metals, minerals, water, paper, electricity, energy, oil, gas—basically anything one can think of.

The upcoming key date in the trade conflict is April 2, when the Trump administration has stated they will reveal their strategy for implementing retaliatory tariffs against various trading nations.

O'Leary thinks – and wishes – that the absurdity of the present US-Canada relationship will eventually become starkly evident.

'There are 243% duties imposed on Vermont butter entering Quebec. Consequently, a reciprocal tariff will apply, so the butter exported from Quebec will also face an equivalent tax.'

'Afterward, both parties gaze at one another and remark, "How foolish is this? It would be preferable to have no tariffs so that the superior butter can prevail." '
