The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists' Union (KPMU) has extended their congratulations to Ouma Oluga following his nomination as the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Medical Services.

The announcement of his inclusion in President William Ruto’s government on Thursday, March 20, is viewed as an attempt to speed up the execution of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
In a declaration reviewed by INSPIRATIONS DIGITAL.co.ke KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atellah commended Oluga’s leadership and dedication, highlighting that his selection is a deserved acknowledgment of his efforts towards advancing Kenya’s healthcare system.
"KMPDU extends congratulations to Ouma Oluga upon his appointment as the PS for the State Department of Medical Services... This new position acknowledges his consistent dedication and proficiency," stated the announcement.
The federation showed faith that Oluga would transfer her similar levels of enthusiasm, foresight, and hard work to the Health Ministry, guaranteeing substantial advancements within the field.
"We are convinced that he will exhibit the same zeal, energy, and dedication towards the health ministry, guaranteeing significant advancements within our healthcare framework," stated KMPDU.
During his tenure as the Secretary General of KMPDU, Oluga played a crucial role in advocating for the rights and well-being of healthcare professionals. His leadership stood out notably during the 2017 physicians' strike, leading to enhanced working environments and superior employment benefits for medical personnel.
The statement indicated that "during his time as the KMPDU secretary general, Oluga’s commitment and leadership were crucial in progressing both the union and the wider healthcare sector in Kenya."
His appointment arrives during a critical period as Kenya’s health care system confronts various difficulties, particularly the intricate rollout of the newly established Social Health Authority (SHA). This initiative has encountered significant obstacles along the way.
