The nominations for the 2025 Gopo Awards, honoring excellence in Romanian filmmaking, have been revealed, featuring six movies vying for the top prize of Best Feature Film. More than 700 experts from the movie industry will cast their votes to determine the victors. The outcomes will be disclosed during the 19th annual Gopo Awards Ceremony scheduled for April 29 at the National Theater in Bucharest.
The films with the highest nominations for this year are The New Year That Wasn't/Anul Nou care Nu-A Venit and Moromeții 3 , with each receiving 13 nominations, followed by Săptămâna Mare/Holy Week with 12 and Three Kilometers to the End of the World / Three Kilometers to the Edge of the Earth with 9.
Two documentaries are included on the list as well, specifically Alice ON & OFF by Isabela Tent and Nasty By Tudor Giurgiu, Cristian Pascariu, and Tudor D. Popescu.
The Best Director category features Isabela Tent ( Alice ON & OFF ), Bogdan Mureșanu ( New Year's Day that hasn't passed yet ), Stere Gulea ( Moromeții 3 ), Andrei Cohn ( Săptămâna Mare ), and Emanuel Părvu ( Trei kilometri până la sfârșitul lumii ).
The leading actresses nominated for awards are Nicoleta Hâncu, Olga Török, Rodica Lazăr, Olimpia Melinte, and Nicoleta Lefter. The contenders for Best Actor include Adrian Văncică, Yann Verburgh, Emanuel Pârvu, Alex Călin, and Doru Bem.
For the category of Best Documentary, the nominees are Alice ON & OFF (directed by Isabela Tent), Leo Records: Exclusively for Our Buddies (Ioana Grigore), Maia - Portrait with Hands (Alexandra Gulea), Moartea lui Iosif Zagor (Adi Dohotaru), and Opt Illustrate from the Ideal World (Radu Jude and Christian Ferencz-Flatz)
