CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) —Following day one of the Pro Road National Championships, local business owners in Charleston are looking forward to the remainder of the week with enthusiasm.
The staff at Black Sheep Burrito and Brews report that it was a crowded lunch rush, for instance.
“The athletes truly impressed me,” stated Kevin Madison, General Manager at Black Sheep Burrito and Brews. “Their performance was outstanding, drawing crowds who ordered takeout meals simply to catch a glimpse of the competition. Everything ran smoothly.”
Despite initial problems with traffic causing delays for commuters heading to downtown jobs, things went smoothly for nearby enterprises.

As the host of the races, the City of Charleston depended not just on its municipal employees, but also on local businesses that accommodated all the incoming visitors and traffic.
The City of Charleston could not organize such an event without the backing of small businesses," stated Amy Goodwin, the mayor of Charleston. "Additionally, we couldn't pull off an event like this without daily contributions from dedicated volunteers who always strive to do their best. It’s impossible for us to manage everything alone.
Goodwin and Madison have encountered riders and spectators hailing from various parts of the nation. Both are eagerly anticipating what the remainder of the week has in store for local enterprises.
