Temporary Closure of Lucas County Canine Care and Control Pet Food Pantry

Lucas County Canine Care and Control (LC4) is temporarily suspending its Community Pet Food Pantry program to facilitate preparations for the move to their new facility on Monroe Street. The final distribution at the current location on South Erie Street is scheduled for this Sunday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. Appointments are required to receive assistance.

While a firm date for the pantry's reopening has not been established, LC4 leadership is aiming to resume operations in October. The shelter is also pausing its vaccine clinics during this transition period.

Challenges in Maintaining Consistent Support

Despite its commitment to the community, the PET Bull Project faces ongoing difficulties in maintaining a consistent supply of pet food. "For the last couple of years, it has been harder to keep food on the shelves," Machon stated. This scarcity has forced the organization to reduce its operating hours. Previously open once a week, the pantry now operates only twice a month, specifically on the second and fourth Tuesdays.
