A New Chapter: Lara Stone's Lavish Life with Property Developer Husband

Lara Stone, the acclaimed Dutch model and former wife of children's author David Walliams, has carved out a luxurious new existence alongside her husband, property developer David Grievson. The couple, who exchanged vows in 2021, reside in a stunning 19th-century mansion nestled in the affluent Hampstead Heath area of London. Their home is a vibrant hub, shared not only by their two-year-old son, Bob, but also by Alfred, Walliams's 12-year-old son from his marriage to Stone.

The arrangement highlights a modern approach to co-parenting, though it recently brought a touch of bittersweet reality for Walliams. This past week, the best-selling author publicly expressed his feelings of heartbreak over not spending Christmas with Alfred this year, as it is Lara Stone's turn to have their son during the festive period.

Walliams and Stone, who share joint custody of Alfred, were married from 2010 until their divorce five years later. Their paths diverged significantly before converging again in a different context.

A Modern Romance and a Grand Union

Stone and Grievson's relationship began in the digital age, with the couple meeting on the popular dating app Tinder in 2018. Their connection quickly deepened, leading to the confirmation of their engagement shortly thereafter in 2020. A year later, they celebrated their union in an intimate ceremony, a stark contrast to Stone's previous, more public, wedding to Walliams. Their initial nuptials were a lavish affair, reportedly costing £30,000 and held at the iconic Claridge's hotel in London.

Lara Stone and David Grievson, the founder of the property design company Coburn, have embraced a settled life together in the heart of London. For the past few years, they have been dedicated to the extensive renovation of their vintage property, breathing new life into its historic architecture.

Grievson, in a rare public acknowledgment of his role, has spoken candidly about his experience as a stepfather, showcasing his doting nature towards his stepson, Alfred.

In an interview discussing the renovation project, Grievson shared a particularly heartwarming detail with PrimeResi. "More excitingly, it meant making a Narnia room for Alf, my stepson, in the eaves behind the clothes rail in his bedroom cupboard," he revealed. He further emphasized his commitment, stating, "I took the view that Lara and Alf were the most important clients I could ever have."

He also reflected on his professional expertise applied to his personal life. "I have done a lot of interior design as part of developing over the years and I am meticulous when it comes to finishes. What I didn’t know before is how much I’d enjoy doing the project with Lara or how useful she is a sounding board!" he added, highlighting the collaborative spirit of their shared venture.

A Whirlwind Past: Walliams and Stone's Journey

The romance between Lara Stone and David Walliams was a whirlwind that ignited in 2009. Their early days were marked by grand gestures, including a date to a Chelsea football match and a home filled with flowers. Walliams's proposal followed swiftly in 2010 while they were in Los Angeles. The couple then tied the knot at London's exclusive Claridge's Hotel in May 2010. Stone's wedding dress, a creation of lace and satin, was a significant statement, reportedly costing £30,000. Their first dance, to the tune of "Beauty And The Beast," was noted by guests as a somewhat unconventional choice.

However, the fairytale narrative took a different turn. After welcoming their son, Alfred, in May 2013, the couple's marriage ended in divorce in 2015. The legal proceedings were notably brief, with their hearing lasting less than 60 seconds. The star cited Lara's "unreasonable behaviour" as the grounds for the "quickie divorce," a case that was processed alongside twenty other couples.

At the time of their initial separation, reports suggested that Lara Stone took their dog, Bert, with her. The Daily Mail at the time indicated that Walliams was still hopeful for a reconciliation. A source quoted by the publication stated, "David’s pushing her hard for a reconciliation. He admits he’s not perfect, but no marriage is, and he is a good person who wants the best for her and their son and will provide a financially secure future for them both."

The pressures of their demanding careers were often cited as a contributing factor to their split. Some speculated that a fundamental culture clash between Walliams's intense persona and Stone's more laid-back nature played a role.

Walliams's Current Path and Reflections

Since his divorce from Stone, David Walliams has not been in a long-term relationship. In a candid exploration of his identity last year, he publicly stated that he is "probably non-binary," opening up about his sexuality and gender identity.

This week, the "Little Britain" star has shared insights into his personal reflections on fatherhood and separation through his new children's book, "Santa And Son." The story centres on a young boy named Elvis, raised by his single mother, whose father is a retired, somewhat grumpy, Santa Claus. A heartwarming bond forms when Elvis and his father meet, embarking on an adventure together.

Speaking on a breakfast show in New Zealand, David explained the book's themes. "This dad in the book is sort of a deadbeat dad but there's definitely a theme running through about parents, separated parents," he said. He continued, "And so I was thinking a bit about sometimes the pain you feel as a parent when you don't have your child at Christmas. I think at Christmas there's a sort of thing that we've all got to be happy but there's often sort of melancholy creeps in."
