Lotte Mart & Super CEO to strengthen domestic, expand overseas

Cha Woo-cheol, the new CEO of Lotte Mart & Super, attended a partner company invitation meeting as his first official move after taking office, presenting plans to strengthen both domestic and overseas businesses simultaneously.

On the 10th, Lotte Mart & Super announced that they held the “2026 Lotte Mart & Lotte Super Partners Day” at the Lotte Mart Zetta Plex Jamsil branch in Songpa-gu, Seoul, the previous day. This year’s event, marking its 4th iteration, was directly hosted by new CEO Cha Woo-cheol. CEO Cha stated, “In the rapidly changing retail environment, a cooperative relationship based on trust with partner companies is an invaluable asset,” adding, “Moving forward, we will strengthen competitiveness in our domestic core business and expand overseas operations with high growth potential to broaden opportunities for mutual growth.”

So far, Lotte Mart and Super have focused on building competitiveness in their core business areas by enhancing synergies from the integration of their grocery business divisions and expanding specialized grocery stores. A source from Lotte Mart stated, “Next year, based on this strategy, we plan to further enhance competitiveness in the domestic market and secure new growth engines by expanding overseas operations with significant growth potential and online grocery businesses.” Particularly, they plan to strengthen the specialized grocery store strategy overseas. They aim to expand the overseas co-entry of domestic excellent partner companies to further solidify cooperative structures in countries like Indonesia.

Domestically, Lotte Mart & Super plans to launch the advanced automated logistics center ‘Zetta Smart Center Busan’ in the first half of next year to fully commence online grocery operations. The company expects that the application of British Ocado’s smart platform at this center will improve inconveniences of existing online grocery shopping, such as product deterioration, stockouts, omissions, and misdeliveries, thereby enhancing delivery quality and customer satisfaction. A source from Lotte Mart & Super stated, “The launch of the AI-based online grocery app ‘Lotte Mart Zetta’, which started this year, and the Zetta Smart Center Busan will align, combining the freshness competitiveness of offline and the convenience of online.”
