An Aussie TV star who recently felt he was on the receiving end of a 'passive aggressive' and 'un-Australian' gardening act from his neighbours has shared an update - and it's only provoked further uproar.

Jimmy Nicholson, a pilot best known for starring on the 2021 season of The Bachelor, ignited heated online discussion last week after sharing a video that showed the nature strips on either side of his driveway had been freshly trimmed by his neighbours - but each stopped short about a metre from his own driveway.

'Surely this is the most un-Australian act of 2026. Have a look at this. A neighbour has mowed to here,' he said in the clip, pointing out how the neighbours had purposefully left an untouched strip of overgrown grass alongside Jimmy's driveway.

'That is passive aggressive mowing at its finest,' he added.

Jimmy's video quickly amassed 1.1 million views and over 1,800 comments - but the replies were sharply divided about whether the neighbours' actions were unfair or if the problem lay with Jimmy.

Accordingly, the TV star released a cheeky follow-up video on Easter Monday - and it poured even more fuel on the fiery debate.

The latest video sees Jimmy once again at the base of his driveway, saying: 'Okay, just an update on the neighbour situation where they mowed right up to our property line and left it.'

The father-of-one admitted that he had received 'a lot of conflicting responses' to his previous video about his neighbours' mowing - but declared that he had come up with 'a solution'.

The new clip showed Jimmy pushing his own mower to the front lawn to trim the area his neighbour had previously left untouched. But instead of putting an end to the saga, Jimmy's video concludes with him revealing he had not, in fact, completely mowed the entire section of long grass along the property line.

Instead, he left behind a single patch of grass, about 30cm wide and a metre in length. He then added a small rope around the tall grass area and positioned a handwritten cardboard sign at the front which read: 'Neutral territory'.

Many viewers of Jimmy's update video immediately saw the lighter side, responding with laugh-crying emojis. Even The Block judge Darren Palmer had this reaction when he commented on the video.

But among the over 870 replies were plenty who felt that Jimmy was now being 'childish', 'entitled' and 'SO petty' in this situation.

'Why are you being so petty? Just mow your lawn and don't be that neighbour,' read one reply, which had received over 660 likes.

'You are the problem, not them. Mow your own lawn,' agreed another.

One reply was disappointed that 'instead of mowing your own lawn like a responsible, respectful adult, you thought it would be clever to be petty instead and doubled down on social media.'

Another agreed, saying: 'In the time you made your attention-seeking video you could've mowed it.'

Even Jimmy's wife, Holly Kingston, whom he met on season nine of the reality dating show, weighed in on her husband's latest act in the neighbour nature strip mowing war, replying: 'I mean I could've come up with other solutions for you.'

Jimmy bantered back that he looks forward to having a beer with the driveway neighbour to discuss 'the neutral territory', to which Holly replied that he shouldn't hold his breath.

'I think we'll be waiting a while,' Holly drily replied.

However, several replies fully understood Jimmy's sense of humour - adding that many people were taking the video far too seriously.

'This comment section reinforces how Australians can't take a joke anymore,' read one reply.

'I can't believe how angry people are on here. I'm assuming it's a joke for socials?' added another.

'This is just holding a mirror up to the neighbour's pettiness in such a funny way...I'm all for it!' read one reply.

Several replies felt it was time for Jimmy to broker a peace treaty with the neighbour.

One profound reply observed: 'A better solution would've been mowing the whole frontage - that would've shown a level of emotional maturity. In life, one petty act doesn't deserve another; that's not really growing, that's reacting - and really not beneficial.'

'The solution here is that you mow his entire nature strip in the future and be the bigger man. You will definitely see him mow your strip in return,' suggested another reply.

Another offered: 'Life's too short. Take the high road.'

Jimmy's initial video about the neighbour lawn mowing dilemma sharply divided public opinion.

A number of people were up in arms that both neighbours had so deliberately left the grass on either side of Jimmy's driveway uncut - and were firmly on his side.

'Seriously... that's low... couldn't just go a few more strokes?' observed one person.

'Crikey, what is wrong with these people?' said another. 'Mow the lawn and do the neighbour's strip if you're out chugging along,' another agreed.

'Both of your neighbours seem unkind! Seriously, why go through all that effort only to leave a little strip? Clearly they don't know you're a busy man with a small child!'

'Super unneighbourly and petty!' one added.

However, the overwhelming majority of replies to the first video had a very different take on why the neighbours on either side of his driveway had both opted not to mow the small patch of grass that belonged to Jimmy.

'If both neighbours are doing it, kinda looks like you're the problem, champ,' read one reply - a sentiment echoed by many others.

'Read the room, mate. Both neighbours tell you something,' another cautioned.

Several replies to the first video pointed out the state of Jimmy's driveway landscaping and the length of the grass, suggesting that the unkempt frontage may have frustrated his neighbours - prompting both to leave unmowed grass either side of his driveway.

The online discussion also springboarded into a debate about whether neighbours should only mow their own nature strip - or their neighbours' as well.

Some people were firmly in the camp of refusing to cut anyone's grass but their own.

One person explained, 'Others don't return the favour when I have done so' - and a number of replies agreed that they had come to a similar realisation.

'I'm not here to look after my neighbours who don't look after me,' added another.

But the topic also gave rise to plenty of heartwarming comments from people who shared fond stories of unspoken, reciprocated mowing agreements with their neighbours.

'We always mow our neighbours' verge on both sides. They do ours if they are mowing - it's an unspoken Aussie law,' one shared.

'When I mow, I mow my neighbour's nature strip. When he mows, he mows mine. We've never exchanged words about it. It's an unspoken agreement. This is the way.'

'Where we used to live, my husband not only mowed next door's nature strip sometimes, he walked across the road and did the other neighbour's as well. I don't understand how people can be so petty.'

'Shoutout to my neighbour for keeping it real - whoever grabs the mower first does all three lawns, every time! Neighbourly respect. Buy them a carton of beer if they do more than you.'
