Hollywood Power Couple Divests From Brooklyn Brownstone for $11.8 Million
Renowned actors Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz have quietly parted ways with their long-cherished Brooklyn townhouse, selling the historic property for an impressive $11.8 million. This significant sale comes nearly a decade after the couple originally acquired the residence for just over half that amount, marking a substantial return on their investment.
Craig, 58, and Weisz, 56, who exchanged vows in 2011, purchased the elegant five-story townhouse in August 2017 for $6.75 million. Their acquisition followed a New Year's Eve fire that had inflicted considerable damage to the home's top floor, presenting a unique opportunity for the discerning buyers.
Upon their purchase, the New York residence had already undergone extensive renovations, including the installation of a new roof. Much of the interior had been gutted, described in the original listing as a "clean, blank space" awaiting a homeowner's personal touch. The listing highlighted the potential for a new owner to incorporate existing custom millwork, including extensive closet systems, bookshelves, kitchen cabinetry, bathroom vanities, marble countertops, and high-end appliances. It also tantalizingly mentioned a "massive west-facing backyard graced by a magnificent Mulberry tree—the kind that tree house dreams are made of!"
It is understood that Weisz and Craig then embarked on a comprehensive overhaul of the entire five-story abode, transforming it into a luxurious sanctuary. Their renovations reportedly included the addition of an elevator, a rooftop deck, and a spacious patio and garden area, further enhancing the property's appeal.
Reports indicate that in late 2025, Craig and Weisz began discreetly exploring options for the six-bedroom home. The couple's residence went into contract at the close of that year, following a subdued marketing process managed by Compass agent Pamela D'Arc. Records confirm that the townhouse was not publicly listed and appears to have been sold off-market, with the transaction recently finalized.
This sale closely follows another significant transaction by the couple: the disposal of an adjacent townhouse just one year prior for $4.05 million. That deal also operated largely under the radar, fueling speculation about whether the A-list couple have permanently departed Brooklyn, or at least their Cobble Hill neighborhood.
A Portfolio of Prestigious Properties
The divestment from their Brooklyn home suggests a potential relocation to one of their other impressive residences. The couple maintains a notable property portfolio, which includes a home in London and a serene countryside retreat located in upstate New York.
Their upstate New York property, situated in Ulster County, was acquired by Weisz in 2008 for $2.1 million. At the time of purchase, it was described as featuring three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and nearly 124 acres of land. This expansive estate is well-suited for the couple, who are known for their strong commitment to protecting their private lives. The original structure on the property dates back to 1785, though it has undoubtedly undergone significant updates since its last sale. Records show that Weisz, who shares a daughter, Grace, with Craig, and also has a son, Henry, from a previous relationship with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, purchased the property through a limited liability company (LLC) under which it remains registered.
London Residence and Past New York Dwellings
In the United Kingdom, the British actors reportedly utilize their London property as their primary residence. They moved into this home together shortly after their marriage in 2011. Located in the sought-after Primrose Hill neighborhood, an area that has been home to numerous celebrities including Harry Styles, Rita Ora, and Kate Moss, the property was purchased by Craig several years before his relationship with Weisz began. Reports from 2024 indicated that the couple were planning extensive renovations to the dwelling, which was originally constructed in 1840. They reportedly overcame objections from neighbors to proceed with their planned updates.
Should Craig and Weisz have indeed severed ties with New York City, it would mark the first time in over 15 years that neither has maintained a primary residence in the city. Prior to their Brooklyn brownstone, the couple owned a sophisticated East Village apartment. They purchased this three-bedroom unit for $6 million in October 2012 and retained ownership for nearly seven years before listing it in May 2019 for $6.5 million. The sale was finalized in August of that year for $6 million.

A Neighbor's Fond Recollection
Remarkably, a former neighbor from their East Village building shared fond memories of the celebrity couple in a viral TikTok video. Ilana Wiles, a content creator known for her "day in the life of a New York City mom" clips, revealed their identities within a video adhering to the popular "holy airball" trend of 2025. This trend, inspired by a basketball meme, allows TikTok users to counter common misconceptions by sharing impressive or surprising facts about their lives.
Wiles' video began with her stating, "Told them my upstairs neighbor was a celebrity," accompanied by a photograph of herself in her kitchen. This initial statement was followed by a humorous, simulated unimpressed response: "So like, one of the Housewives?" Wiles playfully alluded to the common assumption that any celebrity neighbor in New York must be a cast member of the reality television franchise. The reveal then showcased an image of Craig and Weisz, accompanied by the hashtag #holyairball, confirming their high-profile status.
In the caption of her clip, Wiles elaborated on her decade-long experience living above the acclaimed actors. "For the record, neither of us live there anymore but they were our upstairs neighbors for 10 years!" she wrote. "I only have nice things to say." Her sentiment offers a rare glimpse into the positive interactions the couple had with those in their immediate vicinity, contrasting with the often-intrusive nature of celebrity life.
