From shrinkflation to the great Dairy Milk debate, chocolate has been dividing the nation for a while now.
Some shoppers have even switched the brands they buy, in a bid to avoid anything that’s ‘chocolate flavour’ instead of actual chocolate.
If you’re looking for something new to try, then it’s great timing as Tony’s Chocolonely has just unveiled a brand new range of sweet treats.
The Netherlands-based brand has launched filled chocolate bars for the first time in the UK, and they’re available to buy right now.
What’s in the range?
Tony’s has three new Filled chocolate bars, which they’ve created in response to research from the National Confectioners Association that found 47% of consumers prefer chocolate with added textures like caramel or nuts.
As such, you can expect to find caramel and nuts in the new bars, as well as Tony’s signature divided bar design, which demonstrates how the profits in the chocolate industry are unequally divided.
First up, there’s gooey caramel sea salt crunch, featuring milk chocolate, caramel, crunchy caramel pieces, and a pinch of salt.
Then there’s creamy milk chocolate hazelnut crunch, with a smooth hazelnut praline and roast hazelnuts, and finally creamy milk chocolate ganache, which is milk chocolate filled to the brim with a smooth yet ‘indulgent’ milk chocolate ganache.
The new chocolate bars are priced at £3.85 each, but you will only find them in select stores.
Those keen to try them will need to head to Waitrose or Oxfam to get their hands on one in person; alternatively, they can be purchased online from Tony’s website.
A spokesperson for Tony’s said: ‘The combination of chunky chocolate – made from 100% traceable cocoa beans – and soft, layered fillings offers creamy, crunchy, and gooey textures in every bite.
‘Positioned as the ultimate sweet relief, these bars offer consumers a rebellious, unapologetic pause from the busy, full-on lives we live.’

All of the cocoa beans used by Tony’s, including those in the new Filled range, are sourced through Tony’s Open Chain initiative, which uses its five sourcing principles to enable farmers in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire to earn a living income and build long-term partnerships.

This comes after M&S introduced a brand new bar version of one of its most beloved chocolate biscuits – the chocolate-coated custard creams.
These biscuits have a cult following, with shoppers hailing them ‘obscenely delicious’ and ’11/10′ in reviews online.
And now the retailer has launched The Giant Outrageously Chocolatey Milk Chocolate Coated Custard Cream, which costs £5 and is said to be ‘more chocolate than biscuit’.
We’ll bet it’s the perfect treat with a big cup of tea!
