Aaron Rodgers to Join the Pittsburgh Steelers for Another Season
Aaron Rodgers, the 42-year-old NFL legend, has officially signed a new one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The deal is worth $22 million in guaranteed money, with the potential to increase to $25 million depending on performance incentives. This agreement comes after a long period of deliberation for Rodgers, who was considering his future following a disappointing first-round playoff exit with the Steelers in January.
Rodgers will now reunite with Mike McCarthy, the new head coach of the Steelers. The pair previously won a Super Bowl together with the Green Bay Packers in 2011, and they have a combined record of 107 wins, which ranks as the ninth most by any head coach-starting quarterback duo since 1966.
This will be Rodgers’ 22nd season in the NFL, and he is expected to join the Steelers during their voluntary offseason practices starting on Monday. This is earlier than last year, when he did not sign with the team until their mandatory minicamp in June.
Last season, Rodgers led the Steelers to the playoffs, but they were eliminated in the wild card round by the Houston Texans. Following this loss, legendary coach Mike Tomlin left the team after 19 years at the helm.
In an effort to strengthen their quarterback depth, the Steelers added to their roster in the NFL Draft by selecting Penn State's Drew Allar in the third round. Before the start of free agency in March, Rodgers indicated that there was no set deadline for him to decide his future.
'Free agency starts in a week,' Rodgers told Pat McAfee about his situation. 'I've talked to Mike, I've talked to [Steelers general manager] Omar [Khan]. There's been no deadline that's been put in front of me. There's no contract offer or anything. So there's nothing I'm having to debate between. I'm a free agent. Again, I'm enjoying my time with my wife and enjoying this part of the offseason. I think there's conversations to be had down the line.'
Mystery Surrounding Rodgers’ Wife
Rodgers’ return to the NFL will also bring attention back to his marriage to Brittani, a woman who has remained largely unknown even more than a year after their wedding. Rodgers first revealed in June last year that he had been married for "a couple of months," placing the wedding around March or April 2025. However, he provided very few details about his wife.
In a December 2024 episode of the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers mentioned that he was dating someone named Brittani, who he described as a "private person." Despite this, he has never been seen in public with his wife, and she remains one of the NFL's biggest mysteries. Even his teammates and their partners have referred to her as a "phantom."
In March, Rodgers expressed frustration over fans trying to identify his wife, calling their behavior "f***ing bizarre." He said:
"The obsession is f***ing bizarre, that's the only way to put it. You guys know, you laughed about this many times, you showed pictures of it... we're not living at the beach anymore. Part of it is, I have legitimate stalkers. I don't say that lightly or flippantly, I've been getting stalked at my house for a year and a half, stalked at the coffee shop, at the gym at Pro Active. The paparazzi was flying drones over my house, I've learned that it's had a bounty on getting a picture of my wife, which I think is very bizarre as well."
He continued: "When we met back in 2017, I know there was something crazy special about this, and I wanted to be with her. She would make funny comments like, 'I would never live in Green Bay,' and 'I don't want to be a players' wife.' She's just not a public person. Then she moved back across the pond and I got myself into crazy town."
