Hollywood has consistently changed through upheaval, yet this transformation seems unique because artificial intelligence is no longer limited to experimental research facilities or individual creative applications. Rather, it is becoming more integrated throughout the entire entertainment process, spanning from initial development and pre-visualization to post-production, marketing, audience analysis, and distribution methods. Additionally, it is starting to be incorporated directly into film and television production by major industry players.

Walt Disney Studios

For many years, Disney has publicly been cautious about AI due to worker opposition, copyright issues, and discussions with labor unions regarding theIncreasing adoption of AI-driven tools in the film industry. However, behind the scenes, the company has been extensively testing AI technologies for production, visual effects, and content creation. The situation significantly intensified in late 2025 when Disney entered a three-year collaboration with OpenAI related to Sora, OpenAI's video generation platform, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The deal reportedly involved a $1 billion equity investment in OpenAI, along with access to over 200 Disney-owned characters for creating AI-generated videos. Although Amazon has not officially revealed a specific amount allocated for Hollywood-related AI, AWS has already invested billions worldwide in generative AI infrastructure, encompassing significant AI collaborations, specialized chips, Bedrock AI services, and systems supported by Anthropic that may eventually be incorporated into entertainment production processes.

Netflix

Netflix is arguably the most openly aggressive major Hollywood studio in terms of implementing practical AI. Lionsgate Vice Chair Michael Burns clearly viewed AI as a significant financial prospect for the studio, indicating that the technology might eventually lead to substantial savings in production and visual effects expenses. Cristóbal Valenzuela, CEO of Runway, also saw the collaboration as the start of a new chapter in entertainment creation, yet the announcement quickly faced criticism from around the globe, underscoring that Hollywood's rush toward AI still has many challenges ahead.

Paramount

Paramount Global has adopted one of the most conservative and infrastructure-oriented strategies regarding artificial intelligence in Hollywood, focusing on internal integration rather than making flashy AI-related film announcements. In 2024, Paramount Advertising officially revealed a collaboration with the generative AI company Waymark to create AI-enhanced video advertising solutions for local businesses and television advertisers.

Backer RedBird Capital is supporting B5 Studios, an AI-oriented company, in developing efficient, cost-effective film production processes.
