AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas A&M Forest Service provided new updates on multiple wildfires in the Texas Panhandle area.

By Friday morning, the McBride Fire in Carson County had burned approximately 2,192 acres and was fully under control.

Meanwhile, ongoing active fires on Friday included the Hungate Fire in Randall County (14,000 acres; 30% contained), the Shifty Fire in Potter County (5,000 acres, 80% contained), the Roman Fire in Hartley County (2,000 acres, 65% contained), and the Line Fire spanning Quay, Oldham, and Hartley counties (23,000 acres; 25% contained).

Furthermore, inhabitants from Canyon Junior High extending eastward to Highway 87 are advised to get ready for potential relocation if circumstances alter.

Authorities mentioned that the evacuation shelter for Canyon residents is situated at the Cole Community Center.
