Pips Tips - How to Play Pips

Pips is a game where you place dominoes on a grid filled with multicolored squares, becoming more complex and expansive as the difficulty increases. Each colored area represents a specific requirement you must fulfill.

You choose dominoes and arrange them in the grid to satisfy the given conditions. Each domino must be used to meet every condition and win the game. Clicking or tapping on the dominoes rotates them, allowing you to position the tiles correctly.

In the example provided from a medium-level puzzle, there are four distinct colored areas. The dominoes you place in the purple area should add up to 12. For the teal and orange sections, the total number of pips on the dominoes must exceed 3.

In the challenging mode, the zones and symbols become more complex. For instance, you might encounter a crossed-out equal sign, indicating that the three squares you select need to contain distinct numbers.

Here are the different symbols you could encounter:

  • = All pips should be identical within this group
  • ≠ Not all pips in this group should have the same number
  • > The dots on the tile should exceed the specified number
  • The pips on this tile should be fewer than the specified number.
  • A quantity [such as 12], the dots must match that specific number
  • Tiles that have no color can represent anything; consider this as a blank space.

To succeed in the game of Pips, you need to meet all requirements and complete every square. Some puzzles have only one valid solution. In others, typically the more challenging ones, there may be several possible solutions.

Today's Puzzle is challenging yet equitable. Prepare yourself for a mental challenge (or simply read the answer here).

Here we go: position the 6/2 domino from Green 12 into Orange =, then place the 6/4 domino from Green 12 into Dark Blue =. Insert the 6/6 domino into the Dark Blue 12 group. Put the 5/2 domino from Purple 10 into Orange = and the 5/4 domino from Purple 10 into Pink = to complete our first small part of the puzzle. See, it's not too difficult.

Proceeding forward, position the 4/0 domino from Dark Blue = into Purple 4. Place the 3/2 domino from Purple 4 into Orange =. Next, discard the 3/1 domino from Pink 3 into Purple 4 and insert the 2/2 domino into the leftover Orange = tiles. Finally, place the 4/2 domino from Pink = into Blue 2 to complete this step.

Next, position the 0/0 domino on the top two Green = tiles. Then, move the 0/1 domino from Green = down into Orange 2. After that, place the 4/1 domino from Blue 4 down into Orange 2, and the 0/2 domino moves from Orange 2 down into Pink 2. The final step is to put the 4/3 domino from Dark Blue = into Purple 3.

Here's how all those intricate maneuvers appear in a photographic format:
