Speaker claims God 'raised up' Trump to build White House ballroom

A speaker at a prayer gathering on the National Mall stated that God "elevated" President Donald Trump.to create a White House dance hall.

Eric Metaxas, a Christian writer, addressed the National Mall on Sunday during the Rededicate 250: National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving, an event held to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States' declaration of independence.

Metaxas, a passionate advocate ofPresident Donald Trump, discussed the Revolutionary War and the subsequent War of 1812, during which the British burned the capital city of Washington, D.C.

They set fire to sections of the city, including theWhite House"which, at that time, if you can believe it, didn't yet have a ballroom," he said, prompting laughter.

"It's difficult to imagine that it would take two hundred years for the Lord to inspire a remarkable individual to position that ballroom where it truly belongs," he said.

The presidential mansion's ballroom served as a central element during Trump's second term, leading to substantial controversy and legal disputes.

Following the incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner held at the Washington Hilton last month, he restatedthe necessity of the ballroom.

Although Trump claimed the ballroom would cost just $400 million and would be fully supported by private donors, Republicanstried to allocate $1 billion for security measuresfor the ballroom in their large budget to support Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection.

But the Senate Parliamentarian, the official responsible for overseeing the Senate's procedures, discovered that the ballroom expenses breached the guidelines for budget reconciliation, which enables the Senate to bypass a filibuster provided the legislation is connected to federal spending and taxes.

The day focused on themes of Christian nationalism, linking America to a Christian nation, even though the First Amendment of the Constitution states that the country will not have any law establishing a national religion or preventing the free practice of religion.

Trump provided a video message to the event, but did not deliver any speech. Instead, herecited from 2 Chronicles in the Old Testament of the Bible, which outlines what God conveyed to King Solomon following the construction of the Temple of Israel.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth discussed the importance of prayer, citing the country's first president, George Washington, who commanded the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.

"Let us pray for our country while kneeling, and let us request our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as Washington did on that significant day," he stated. Hegsethhas also been a member of the church led by Doug Wilson, whose actions have advocated for the United States to abolish the 19th Amendment of the Constitution that granted women the right to vote.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed similar views during a video speech.

"It's not by chance that America, right from the start, has held a special and extraordinary position in world history," he stated. Rubio mentioned that the United States was founded on the concept of Christianity to promote the religion worldwide.

From that directive emerged America," he stated. "Our country, more than any other in history, was influenced by this Christian concept.

Furthermore, Franklin Graham, the son of the renowned evangelist and preacher Billy Graham, criticized what he believes is the moral decline in the United States.

"Currently, the Bible has been taken out of our schools and largely from the public sphere, yet there is a worsening moral decline that continues to sink deeper into chaos," he stated.

"America has turned into a morally decaying place, deeply infected by sin, transgender issues, same-sex marriage, and allowing men into women's locker rooms. These are just the surface problems," he said.
