A Mother of Five and Beauty Influencer Faces Shoplifting Charges
Jeana DiCarlo, a 35-year-old beauty influencer from Middletown, New Jersey, has found herself in legal trouble after allegedly shoplifting nearly $2,500 worth of groceries from a ShopRite store. Known for her Instagram posts about skincare and life as a mother married to a firefighter with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), DiCarlo's recent actions have sparked public interest and concern.
On June 5, DiCarlo was arrested at the Middletown ShopRite after store employees caught her attempting to leave with over $500 worth of unpaid items. According to police body camera footage obtained by the YouTube channel Transparency Bodycam, staff reviewed surveillance footage and confronted DiCarlo in the parking lot, where she could not produce a receipt when asked. The footage shows DiCarlo appearing visibly distressed but remaining quiet during the encounter.
The incident is not the first time DiCarlo has been accused of shoplifting. Store employees told responding officers that she had previously stolen from the ShopRite location while accompanied by her children. One employee described how she had seen DiCarlo with a full cart and children, which surprised her. She added, "I have a feeling we're going to go back [and] it's going to be a lot."
According to police reports, DiCarlo was charged with third-degree shoplifting, a felony in New Jersey that carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000 if convicted. She was released pending her court appearance. However, the charges are still pending, and DiCarlo is scheduled to appear in Monmouth County Superior Court on September 24.
DiCarlo’s history of shoplifting includes an arrest in July 2023 for stealing from a Target in Middletown. She was charged with fourth-degree shoplifting, but there is no record of a sentencing in that case. Just five days after the June 5 incident, she was arrested again for shoplifting, according to court records.
Her social media profiles, which have since been made private, show that DiCarlo recently gave birth to her fifth child. Public records indicate that she and her husband, John DiCarlo, live in a home estimated to be worth approximately $756,000. Their property taxes for the 2025 calendar year were $10,379, and they took out a 30-year mortgage of $397,664 in August 2018.
John DiCarlo, a firefighter with the FDNY, earned a salary of $190,781 in 2025, according to public records. His earnings over the past five years have varied, with the highest being $204,908 in 2024 and the lowest at $127,649 in 2021.
During the arrest, Officer James Courtney of the Middletown Township Police Department searched DiCarlo’s purse and noted that she had "enough money to pay for groceries." He expressed surprise at the amount of cash she had on her.
In the body camera footage, the officer asked DiCarlo if someone was taking care of her children, to which she responded that she was. She also mentioned that she had her son's Christening on Sunday. Despite her claims of having her children with her, the allegations against her continue to raise questions about her actions and motivations.
As the legal process unfolds, DiCarlo's case serves as a reminder of the complexities surrounding public figures and their personal conduct. The situation highlights the importance of accountability, even for those who may have a large following or a seemingly stable lifestyle.
