GTA 6: Key Gameplay Features and Industry Speculation

Tech experts are not expecting a key gameplay feature that many gamers are hoping for in the upcoming release of GTA 6. Pre-orders for the game are now live, with the title set to launch on 19 November. Two editions are available—standard and ultimate—and those who pre-order can start loading the game from 12 November.

As one of the most anticipated games ever, Grand Theft Auto VI has captured the attention of gamers worldwide. Fans continue to follow Rockstar Games' next trailer reveal, gameplay leaks, and map rumors online. The latest updates and speculation about the game are covered in a live blog that includes the latest rumors, talking points, and gameplay updates.

Tech Experts Not Expecting 60fps in GTA 6

According to Digital Foundry, a well-known tech analysis site, GTA 6 is unlikely to run at 60fps, even on a PS5 Pro. While there has been recent speculation that the game may have a 60fps mode, experts believe the performance will be limited by console CPU capabilities.

Although the PS5 Pro offers better graphics, the CPU for base PS5 consoles is similar. Rockstar Games has not confirmed the technical details for GTA 6 at this time, so these claims remain speculative.

A Gameplay Feature Everyone Wants

A renowned gaming industry insider has claimed that GTA 6 will include a gameplay feature that many players are eager to see. The debate over whether the game will run at 60fps like GTA 5 Enhanced or be locked at 30fps like Red Dead Redemption 2 has been ongoing.

According to the Rock i Borys Podcast, which previously correctly predicted the development of The Witcher 3 DLC, there are claims that GTA 6 will offer both 30fps and 60fps modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, it may be locked at 30fps on the Series S due to "very reliable" sources within Rockstar.

The podcast also mentioned that this feature has not yet been officially announced because Rockstar is unsure if it will be ready for launch. If not, it's likely to be included in a future post-launch update.

Xbox Responds to PlayStation Pre-Order Claims

Reports have suggested that PlayStation is dominating GTA 6 pre-orders. However, Xbox has pushed back against these claims, citing affiliate link data.

Pre-orders for GTA 6 went live on 25 June, with reports indicating over 39 million orders during the first day, generating $3 billion in revenue. French retailer Cdiscount described GTA 6 as "the biggest cultural event of 2026," noting that they recorded six times more preorders than during an entire traditional preorder period for major franchises like EA Sports FC or Call of Duty.

On social media, IGN shared results showing which platform gamers are preferring to pre-order the game on. The full story can be read here.

Physical Discs for GTA 6: Verdict from Reddit

Reddit users in the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit have been discussing the possibility of GTA 6 having physical discs. Some users believe that physical copies may not be available at all.

One user, xAVATAR-AANGx, suggested that by the time we reach the PS7 or even the PS6 Slim, discs may be phased out entirely. Others, like Santa-Banana, argued that it is possible for Rockstar to release physical editions, as they have done in the past with multiple-disc games.

Another user, SylviSweetheart, questioned why Rockstar would release two nearly identical SKUs—one with discs and one without. They suggested that this would confuse consumers and annoy retailers.

No Plans for Physical Discs, Says Insider

A renowned insider has supported a report claiming that GTA 6 will not have any physical discs, even after its initial launch. Although physical versions are available for pre-order, they are for download codes inside a box.

There was speculation that physical discs might arrive soon after the game’s launch, but a report from The Hollywood Reporter stated that there are no plans for GTA 6 discs to be printed.

Responding to a comment on Reddit, NateTheHate said that neither of his contacts were aware of a physical-disc version, aligning with the THR report. He continues to look for further confirmation.

Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed or denied the presence of physical discs for GTA 6 at this time.
