Seagate Technology Investors: Mark Your Calendar for July 28

The Growing Demand for AI Infrastructure

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly increased the demand for robust computational infrastructure. While graphics processing units (GPUs) are essential, they alone cannot meet the needs of modern AI models, which generate and store massive amounts of data. This growing need has positioned Seagate Technology as one of the most successful companies in the AI infrastructure space.

Investors are currently looking forward to Seagate's fiscal fourth-quarter results, scheduled for July 28. Analysts anticipate continued strong performance, given the company's optimistic outlook on both revenue and profitability.

Overview of Seagate Technology Stock

Seagate is a leading manufacturer of hard disk drives (HDDs), mass capacity storage systems, and data infrastructure solutions. Based in Dublin, Ireland, and Fremont, California, the company serves cloud service providers, enterprises, and PC manufacturers worldwide. With a market capitalization of $204 billion, Seagate has become a key player in the AI infrastructure investment cycle.

Over the past 52 weeks, Seagate's stock has surged approximately 458%, far outperforming the broader S&P 500 Index. Despite this impressive growth, the stock still trades about 34% below its 52-week high of $1,145.

Valuation and Dividend Performance

STX stock has experienced explosive price appreciation, but it may offer better value compared to other AI infrastructure stocks. The stock currently trades at approximately 33.8 times forward earnings, although the trailing multiple of 77.8 times is quite high as earnings catch up with the company's rapid expansion. Additionally, the price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of 17.4 times is considered a premium, yet investors seem willing to pay for it.

Unlike many technology companies, Seagate provides income to its shareholders. In April, the company declared a quarterly dividend of $0.74 per share, payable on July 7. Over time, Seagate is expected to continue paying dividends and repurchasing shares.

Strong Q3 Performance

Seagate delivered another exceptional quarter on April 29 with its Q3 2026 results. Revenue reached $3.11 billion, a 44% increase year-over-year. Non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) rose to $4.10 from $1.90 in the same period last year. The non-GAAP gross margin also improved to 47%, reflecting better pricing and product mix as storage demand grew due to AI development.

Cash flows were strong, with operating cash flow reaching approximately $1.1 billion and free cash flow at $953 million. Management used this financial flexibility to repay $641 million in debt and return $191 million to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases.

Looking ahead, management guided for Q4 revenue of approximately $3.45 billion, plus or minus $100 million, and non-GAAP EPS of $5, plus or minus $0.20. These figures reflect sequential growth and indicate that management believes AI applications will continue to drive structural storage demand growth.

CEO Dave Mosley highlighted that Seagate has entered "a new era of structural growth" due to increasing AI data demand for higher capacity, more efficient storage solutions. He also mentioned improvements in areal density technology, which allows Seagate to produce high-capacity drives while reducing costs.

With Seagate set to report Q4 earnings on July 28, investors will be closely watching whether the company meets or exceeds guidance and whether its long-term AI storage thesis holds true.

Analyst Outlook for Seagate Stock

Despite its already impressive performance, analysts remain optimistic about Seagate stock, assigning a consensus "Strong Buy" rating. They view the company as a major beneficiary of AI-driven storage demand growth, citing expanding margins, strong cash generation, and better earnings visibility.

The mean price target for STX stock is $1,015.43, suggesting potential upside of approximately 19% from current levels. The highest target price is $1,600, while the lowest is $720 per share.
