Zakat Al-Fitr in Morocco: 23 Dirhams Set for 1446 AH

The Higher Scientific Council in Morocco has specified the amount of Zakat al-Fitr for this year (1446 AH/2025), whether in terms of food or monetary value. According to them, the customary practice involves giving staple foods widely consumed within the nation. The quantity should equate to one "prophetic sa'," which amounts to four "mudds" based on the Prophet’s measurement. Approximately, this converts to about 2.5 kilograms (2.5 kg) of grain or flour per individual.

However, the Council has also set a cash value for this year: 23 dirhams. People can choose to give more if they want, as God says: «And whoever volunteers good, then indeed, God is Appreciative and Knowing».

It’s ideal to distribute Zakat al-Fitr after performing the Fajr prayer but before attending the Eid prayers. However, it is acceptable to pay it one or two days prior to Eid as well. Additionally, you have the option of giving it in monetary form if that suits your preference better.
