The Southern African country, which hosted the five-time African champions and narrowly missed out on securing a win, was led by their recently named head coach, Zdravko Logarusic. He disclosed the strategies that contributed to his team’s commendable display.
The coach explained, 'Occasionally, some strategies prove effective while others fail to deliver as intended. I felt the strain from my team, and I also imposed pressure on myself. Although acknowledging that the previous title holders were superior, the ex-Zimbabwe national squad mentor stated that Eswatini might have achieved a remarkable win if they had been more fortunate in scoring goals.
"They had opportunities and proved their worth as a strong team, yet we still managed to create some chances that might have led us to victory. The key point is that there is immense talent within this nation, and our focus should be on diligently working towards enhancing it," he concluded.
While Eswatini stay at the bottom of Group D, the Indomitable Lions keep their position at the top.
Next week, Eswatini will face Mauritius in their World Cup qualifier match on Sunday, March 23rd, while Cameroon hosts Libya on Tuesday, March 25th.
