The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has initiated a program aimed at encouraging the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as an environmentally friendly fuel option in Nigeria.
The program was launched following decisions taken during a one-day CNG Empowerment and Awareness Summit conducted in Owerri, which serves as the capital city of Imo State.
The conference centered around the theme "Creating a Youth-Driven Country via Clean Energy," with an emphasis on enlightening and strengthening young locals about the advantages and procedures involved in adopting Compressed Natural Gas.
At the event, NADDC Director General Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the Imo State Government, notably to Governor Hope Uzodinma, for their support of this significant project.
He stated that the purpose of the summit was to inform the residents of Imo State, with special emphasis on young individuals, about the benefits of adopting CNG-fueled cars.
As per his statement, the summit "forms part of NADDC’s broader initiative to boost the uptake and guarantee safety and standardization in the use of CNG."

Osanipin highlighted the significance of employing approved conversion kits and specialized garages to guarantee safety throughout the procedure.
"The cylinders utilized in CNG vehicles are reinforced, rendering them more secure than conventional vehicle fuel tanks," Osanipin emphasized again.
The Minister of Industry, represented by Professor Anoka Njan, also spoke and commended the NADDC for their efforts.
He affirmed complete backing from the ministry for this initiative, which forms an integral part of wider endeavors aimed at addressing issues within the automotive sector and fostering young talent.

He said, "CNG provides a safer, cleaner, and more economical option compared to the difficulties many encounter in the nation."
Uzodinma detailed the initiatives of his government aimed at collaborating with NADDC and entities within the automotive sector to set up conversion facilities and compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations throughout Imo State.
He guaranteed that the state would have a crucial part in this significant transition toward more environmentally friendly energy options.
"This event represents a crucial milestone in NADDC’s continuous endeavors to revamp Nigeria’s automotive sector, fostering sustainability and generating fresh prospects for both skilled technicians and local communities," as highlighted by the governor.
