Washington D.C., [USA], March 22 (ANI): A spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar showed dissatisfaction with India’s position at 118th place in the 2025 ranking World Happiness Index , saying the country deserves a much higher position due to its strong social bonds, cooperation, and human values.
Ravishankar criticized the rankings, highlighting that India was positioned below conflict-stricken areas. He stated, "India stands at number 118, significantly lower than these conflicted regions. The argument suggesting greater unity in conflict zones may hold some weight; however, mere cohesion isn’t sufficient. Regarding the happiness index though, I believe India performs considerably well."
He emphasized India’s robust communal spirit, stating, “Having traveled extensively around the globe, I’ve noticed that India places a greater emphasis on human values such as empathy and hospitality. The desire to assist visitors and the inclination to share one’s possessions are truly remarkable here. For instance, should an unfortunate event befall someone within your family, the whole village would rally together for support. Such social cohesion is particularly pronounced. Naturally, the nation faces challenges, yet considerable progress has been observed over the past ten years. It’s important to recognize that poverty does not correlate with levels of contentment.”
Notably, Pakistan Ranked 109th, surpassing India, notwithstanding persistent human rights concerns in Balochistan. On Friday, Niaz Baloch, the Coordinator of the BNM’s Foreign Office, voiced his worries during the 58th session of the UNHR Council meeting in Geneva. He leveled accusations Pakistan Of curtailing political opposition and carrying out significant human rights abuses in Balochistan.
The World Happiness Report is released by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford, working together with Gallup, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and an independent editorial board. (ANI)
