Lawmaker Warns Trump Might Deport Canadians to 'Concentration Camp'

On Thursday, a Canadian legislator cautioned that the Trump administration might deport Canadians and Europeans to a maximum-security facility in El Salvador.

The statement from Charlie Angus A Canadian Member of Parliament spoke out following the U.S. deportation of 200 Venezuelans believed to be gang members to a Central American nation.

Trump cited an 18th-century statute to legitimize the deportations; however, a federal judge has subsequently overturned the use of this law.

" If Trump manages to get away with this, then there’s nothing stopping Canadians, Germans, or people from the UK from being detained and deported to what some might call an El Salvadoran concentration camp. ", Angus said on Thursday.

" Due to these circumstances occurring in the U.S., where the rule of law has been entirely disregarded, we find ourselves reflecting on our own nation. Canada stands as a beacon for upholding the rule of law and practicing true democracy. It’s crucial now more than ever for us to remain steadfast. I advise against traveling to the United States; continue your protest, stay resilient, since Canada would never bow down to such thugs. ," he added.

Angus is strongly critical of Trump and most recently ridiculed the president's " stupidity ".
