When it comes to running, the golden rule is simple: don’t underestimate the power of a good pair of trainers. Whether you’re training for a marathon, jogging around the park or just trying to get your steps in after work, the right shoes can make all the difference.

Running shoes aren’t just about style either. The best pairs are designed to cushion impact, support your stride and protect your joints from the constant pressure that comes with working out. That’s why serious runners are often willing to splash out on a trusty pair, with some of the most popular performance trainers now costing well over £200.

But not everyone wants to spend that much just to clock a few miles. Which is why Lidl’s latest launch has caught the attention of runners across the UK.

Cue the CRIVIT Mens and Ladies Running Shoes CarbonLite 1.0 to enter the group chat. The budget supermarket has unveiled a pair of running trainers, that cost just £40, and shoppers are comparing them to Nike’s Vaporfly 4 shoes that cost a whopping £240, with the bargain buy quickly gaining traction online.

The trainers are made from recycled materials and are designed with an EVA sole and carbon plating which has become a key feature in recently launched running trainers due to how it significantly improves running stamina and coverts the energy applied into quite literally ‘putting a spring into your step.’ It is also brilliant in reducing muscle fatigue and increases speed.

The CRIVIT Running Shoes are super lightweight and breathable with a knitted upper, to keep feet cool at all times. The moulded ergonomic insolde makes for an improved fit, so you feel fully supported and it effectively absorbs shock, minimising risk of injuries.

Taking to social media, many have started sharing their opinions as one TikTok user said: ‘First impressions, they’re so light, lighter than 90 per cent of my other running shoes. I ran 10k in the trainers, and I’m so impressed. I actually love running in them. It was such an enjoyable run, I’ll definitely be running in them again. If you’re looking to get into running and are looking for an affordable, good shoe, I really really really recommend.’

Another posted saying, ‘Did I fall victim to a TikTok Trend and buy a pair of the Lidl carbon plate trainers? Yes I did, and I love them. 10/10. I bought a pair of Asics which cost me £160, and I would argue that these feel 10 times better. They also look a lot better.’

‘They are super lightweight, fit perfectly and provide incredible support, plus how cool do they look. An absolute bargain at £39.99, and 7 times cheaper than my last pair of carbon plated running shoes. It was also my first time wearing them and they easily carried me round the 26.2 miles of my alternative London Marathon route. Perfect for experienced runner, newbies and those in between.’

The CRIVIT Ladies Running Shoes CarbonLite 1.0 are available in sizes four to seven and a half, whilst the CRIVIT Men’s Running Shoes CarbonLite 1.0 are available from a size eight to 11.5. You can check if your local Lidl store has them available by using their ‘check stores now’ locator on the webpage.
