Coros has been introducing athletic timepieces and wearable devices for under a decade. During this period, it has achieved enough success to have its name brought up alongside thebest Garmin watches, Polar and Suunto models.
Whether that's hitting the ideal balance for cost, capabilities, and efficiency with timepieces such as theCoros Pace 4or launching major software features, Coros is gaining ground against competitors that have been established for much longer.
Like those brands, Coros is constantly focused on future innovations to stay relevant in the sports wearable market for years ahead. In 2025, Coros introduced theCoros Nomad, an outdoor watch that was the first to feature a microphone. Since then, microphones have been included in its Pace 4 and Apex 4 watches.

Microphones appearing on sports watches isn't exclusive to Coros. Garmin's Venu 2 Plus, released in 2022, was the first Garmin device to feature one along with a speaker. This was designed to support Bluetooth calls and allow users to interact with their phone's virtual assistant, as well as perform basic commands directly on the watch like setting timers. Since then, Garmin has introduced similar features to many of its watch models, such as theGarmin Fenix 8 and Forerunner ranges.
Coros has chosen a unique method for adding sound to its timepieces. It's not employing microphones to create a watch that functions more like one of thebest Apple Watchesor a Wear OS smartwatch. Instead, voice pins — a feature found on the Pace 4, Apex 4, and Nomad watches — enable users to record voice messages during exercise and indicate their location on a GPS map of their run. Voice pins are used to document how you felt during the session or to remind you of the conditions when you return to that route.
We believe that voice is the future," says Lewis Wu, co-founder and CEO of Coros. "As the age of AI emerges, many interactions between the watch or the app and users will evolve. Voice offers the simplest way for the system or app to comprehend you. With AI operating in the background, it can provide responses. It's akin to a two-way conversation.

Examining training involves more than just speed and heart rate. It also includes your personal perspective, such as how you feel. If I'm feeling exhausted, my legs are aching, or I have a problem with my ankle, these are all details a coach needs to know—and now artificial intelligence will be aware of this as well.
The more data consumers input into the computer and AI systems, the more accurately the system will comprehend you. That's why we have incorporated microphones in every new watch we release, as we see this as the future. If you're looking for future-ready hardware or a functional watch, opt for models that include a microphone. This is our vision.
Leveraging voice technology to enhance the training capabilities of its watches is not the sole focus for Coros as it moves forward. It also aims to improve features that have been available on its devices for a longer time compared to the voice functions.

"We are dedicated to creating an improved wellness system," Wu states. "I must confess, our health and wellness system isn't the best. We need to improve, but the method we use to do so might differ slightly from other companies." This appears to recognize aspects like sleep tracking, wellness assessments, and ongoing heart rate monitoring, which, based on our testing, don't seem as refined as other parts of the Coros ecosystem.
We are aware that the majority of people enjoy sports," Wu says. "They desire to stay active and maintain good health. The approach of most companies is to encourage individuals to engage in some form of physical activity, as this can enhance their sense of well-being.
Many of our customers are athletes or at the very least highly focused on endurance. Dedicated athletes are fully committed. So we approached it differently. How can we help consumers stay healthy so they can participate in sports? It's not about exercising to be healthy, but rather being healthy in order to engage in sports. This is how we define our wellness system. It's designed to assist consumers when they aren't training but still want to remain free from injuries or stress.
