Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema Rips Into Congress for Disrupting Assembly Session

Chandigarh (Punjab), India, March 21 (ANI): The Punjab Legislative Assembly's annual budget meeting began on Friday, featuring major talks centered around the accomplishments of the Punjab government.

Harpal Singh Cheema The Punjab Finance Minister spoke to the press after the session, emphasizing significant advancements in the state’s administration and condemning the opposition for their absence from engagement.

During his comments, Cheema talked about Governor Gulab Chand Kataria His speech to the assembly detailed the accomplishments of the state government over the previous year.

As per Cheema, the Governor’s address centered around Punjab's continuous progress. “Today marks the beginning of the budget session for the Punjab legislative assembly. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria spoke about the accomplishments of the Punjab government… This topic was deliberated upon…” stated Cheema.

Nevertheless, the meeting was disrupted when members of the Congress party left prematurely. Cheema criticized them for not fulfilling their role as an effective opposing force.

"The Congress party is unwilling to assume the position of a constructive opposition, which is why they frequently leave the sessions... The Congress shows no inclination towards enhancing the law and order conditions in Punjab...," he further stated.

Significantly, the Congress MLAs, donning black armlets, tried to disrupt Governor Gulab Chand Kataria finished their speech and left after chanting slogans against the AAP government .

The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, along with several Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), staged protests against the state government regarding the displacement of farmers at the Punjab-Haryana borders such as Khanauri and Shambhu, among other concerns.

"Bajwa informed ANI that they would discuss the budget on March 26; however, today, they plan to meet with the Governor to address how the state government handled the farmers' issue, as mentioned in 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan,'" he stated.

On Wednesday, Punjab police evicted farmers from the Punjab-Haryana Khanauri Border and Shambhu Border, where they had been protesting over several demands such as a legally binding Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all types of crops. (ANI)
