Yango CEO: AI’s Engagement Revolution from Search to Prompts
The AI Revolution: Reshaping Digital Engagement in the UAE
Artificial intelligence (AI) is not merely a buzzword; it is a transformative force fundamentally altering how individuals discover, interact with, and consume digital services and products. The paradigm is shifting dramatically, moving away from traditional search-based interactions towards more intuitive, prompt-led engagement. This evolution was a central theme discussed by Daniil Shuleyko, CEO of Yango Group, during his insights shared with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the BRIDGE Summit in Abu Dhabi.
Shuleyko, who delivered a compelling session titled “How AI is Transforming Content Consumption Behavior,” emphasised a significant evolution in the public perception of AI. What was once considered a realm of abstract “magic” has now transitioned into a fundamental expectation, deeply embedded within the core architecture of contemporary applications and services. This normalisation signifies AI’s maturation from a novel concept to an indispensable component of the digital landscape.
The BRIDGE Summit itself was highlighted as an exceptional venue, fostering a unique ecosystem where experts from a broad spectrum of fields converge. This includes professionals from the creative industries, technology and engineering sectors, venture building, and government entities. Such a multi-disciplinary gathering provides an invaluable opportunity for participants to engage in a dynamic exchange of ideas, collaboratively tackling complex challenges that might otherwise require extensive, fragmented efforts over extended periods.
Shuleyko elaborated on a recurring pattern observed with significant technological advancements. He noted that the initial wave of excitement surrounding a new technology is invariably followed by a period of normalisation as individuals and societies adapt to its capabilities. This same dynamic is currently unfolding with AI. Users are increasingly accustomed to and expect personalised digital experiences, showing a diminishing interest in products and services that fail to cater to their specific needs and preferences.
The Rise of Conversational Interfaces
A key aspect of this AI-driven transformation is the escalating prominence of voice and conversational interfaces. Shuleyko pointed out that audiences are actively selecting the most convenient communication methods available to them at any given moment. This preference is significantly accelerating the shift from passive browsing and keyword-based searching to more active, natural language questioning and prompting.
- Shift in User Interaction: The move from “browsing” to “asking” represents a fundamental change in how users seek information and engage with digital platforms. This necessitates a more proactive and understanding approach from service providers.
- Personalisation as a Standard: Users now anticipate that digital services will learn their habits and preferences, offering tailored content and functionalities. Generic, one-size-fits-all approaches are becoming increasingly obsolete.
- Convenience Dictates Choice: The ease of use offered by conversational AI, whether through voice commands or text-based chat, is a primary driver of its adoption.
Strategic Integration of AI for Businesses
Addressing how organisations should strategically respond to these evolving trends, Shuleyko offered crucial advice: avoid treating AI as a mere superficial addition or an afterthought. While implementing minor AI-powered features can serve as a valuable initial step for teams to gain familiarity with the technology, achieving genuine transformation demands a more profound commitment.
This deeper integration involves a methodical rebuilding of products and services, ensuring that AI becomes an intrinsic element of the user experience. Rather than being an extra layer bolted onto an existing system, AI should be woven into the very fabric of how a product functions. This approach ensures that the AI’s capabilities are leveraged to enhance the core value proposition and deliver seamless, intelligent interactions for the end-user.
- Beyond Superficial Add-ons: Companies must resist the temptation to simply add AI features without fundamental structural changes. This approach yields limited results and fails to capture the true potential of the technology.
- Iterative Product Reimagining: A step-by-step rebuilding process is essential. This allows for the seamless integration of AI capabilities, ensuring they enhance rather than complicate the user journey.
- AI as Core Functionality: The ultimate goal is to make AI an integral part of the product’s DNA, enabling it to proactively understand and respond to user needs in a natural and intuitive manner. This fosters deeper engagement and loyalty.
The ongoing advancements in AI, coupled with platforms like BRIDGE that facilitate cross-sectoral dialogue, are setting the stage for a new era of digital engagement within the UAE and beyond. Businesses that embrace a strategic, deeply integrated approach to AI will be best positioned to thrive in this rapidly evolving landscape.
