The 2025 edition of the Digital Parenting Coaching Workshop, themed "Tech Savvy Parenting," was conducted by the Glad Company in Benin over the weekend.
At the one-day workshop, Dr. Teejay Chunu, who founded the Glad Company and leads digital parenting workshops, emphasized the importance of parents acquiring knowledge on utilizing technology effectively to nurture their children without alienating them or steering them off course.
As he puts it, kids today are growing up in the digital era; hence, through proper guidance and education, they can be taught to utilize devices responsibly.
Dr. Teajay similarly encouraged parents to strive to bring up children who are not only tech-savvy but also responsible, productive, and secure, fostering future leaders.
During her comment, one of the panellists, Mrs. Precious Imuwahen, stated that children merit nothing but the finest, particularly considering the extraordinary times in which we are bringing up our offspring. She further emphasized that "it’s essential to place faith in your children, who also require feeling secure and at ease with their parents."
Engineer Ako E. Agenmonmen, in his input, emphasized that "it is crucial to secure our children's prosperity in the digital realm since we are still in the early stages of the internet era with much more development ahead, and as such, we are essentially laying down the foundation. Consequently, parents should serve as positive role models."
He similarly encouraged everybody to remain cyber-safe.
In her comments, Dr. Oghale Oghene Sele highlighted the importance of children developing self-confidence and fostering trust in their parents. She also encouraged parents to stay engaged in their children’s lives.
