Military officials have stated that the Sudanese army has taken back control of the presidential palace in Khartoum from the competing Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group.
Videos and images uploaded to social media platforms and confirmed by INSPIRATIONS DIGITAL depict joyful soldiers brandishing their weapons, shouting cheers, and getting down on their knees to pray.
The army seems ready to reclaim control of the capital city two years after being ousted from power by its paramilitary opponents, referred to as the RSF.
The armed organization has not provided any statement as of yet.
Khartoum was the site where the nation's harsh civil war started about two years back, and also where several of its major conflicts took place.
Since the beginning of the conflict, the RSF has controlled much of the capital along with western regions of Sudan.
Taking back control of Khartoum would represent a significant triumph for the Sudanese Armed Forces and could prove to be a crucial turning point in the ongoing hostilities. Additionally, over the past few weeks, the military has achieved advancements in several areas across central Sudan.
On Thursday, observers mentioned hearing blasts from drone assaults and aerial bombings close to the Republican Palace.
On Saturday, in a video statement, RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also called Hemedti, pledged to protect the presidential palace and nearby regions controlled by his militia.
He warned of additional assaults in multiple cities in the north.
Multiple peace attempts have fallen apart as opposing factions pledge to keep battling for dominance over key regions.
According to the UN, the conflict has triggered the globe's most significant humanitarian emergency, with both the RSF and the military being blamed for numerous violations of human rights.
