A diplomacy enthusiast working towards their PhD in International Studies at the University of Nairobi, who previously reached out directly to President William Ruto seeking a diplomatic position, has reaffirmed their request following their omission from the list of candidates.

An accomplished scholar named Gordon K'achola wrote to the president with the aim of being nominated as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana.
Nevertheless, when the head of state published the list of nominees on Thursday, March 20, his name did not appear on it.
Speaking exclusively to INSPIRATIONS DIGITAL.co.ke After his initial plea gained widespread attention, senior government officials contacted K'achola, extending their prayers and support with the expectation that his petition might be approved.
"When the list was published, a friend forwarded it to me. Before I opened the seven-page document, I offered a prayer, holding out hope for a miracle. Given that the details originated from an official of considerable rank, I genuinely thought I would be included among those selected," K'achola stated.
Yet, after reviewing the list, he discovered that he hadn't been chosen.
What prompted Gordon K'achola to reinstate his appeal?
Even though he was disappointed, he took comfort in knowing that the role he aspired to—the Kenya High Commissioner post in Ghana—remained unfilled.
"When I couldn't find my name, I looked for the person nominated for Ghana instead. Relief washed over me as nobody was chosen for the part. I thought to myself, 'This is delayed triumph,'" he said.
Currently, at 34 years of age, K'achola still holds onto hope and has once again appealed to Ruto, highlighting his willingness to contribute and his dedication to the principles of Kenya Kwanza.

"I feel better equipped than ever to embrace this position and make significant contributions to our nation. Given my experiences spanning multiple sectors and countries, I am confident in my ability to support the advancement of the Kenya Kwanza initiative," he said.
K'achola firmly asserted that he has the required skills, education, and experience for the role and implored the president to provide him with an opportunity.
The scholar claims he takes pride in initiating the present Foreign Service Act of 2021 and significantly contributing to the foreign policy sessional paper.
"I've remained resilient and steadfast, convinced that someday I'll become one of the young leaders contributing to Kenya’s progress. Mr. President, I won’t relinquish my hopes. Though you might not recognize me now, rest assured, I won’t disappoint you nor let down our country," he stated.
His fresh appeal follows several months after two leaders, among them the ex-ICT Cabinet Secretary Margaret Ndung'u, turned down Ruto’s nomination for the role of Kenya’s ambassador to Ghana.
Who were the people nominated by Ruto for ambassadorial positions?
The Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Felix Koskei, has declared new diplomatic postings in accordance with Article 132 (2) (e) of the Constitution.
Koskei affirmed in an official statement that Ruto has proposed candidates for positions within Kenya’s diplomatic missions abroad.
Here are the nominations:
- Susan Nakhumicha Wafula – Ambassador for Kenya’s Permanent Mission to UN-Habitat, based in Nairobi.
- James Buyekane Muhati – Consul-General in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China.
- Abdi Dubat Fidhow – Consul-General, Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.
- Mr. Peter Tum – Ambassador, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Alfred Ombudo K’Ombundo – Deputy Head of Mission in Brussels, Belgium.
- Geoffrey Eyanae Kaituko – Deputy Head of Mission in Rome, Italy.
These appointments coincide with the government’s pledge to enhance Kenya’s diplomatic standing and cultivate global relationships. The candidates will go through the required scrutiny and endorsement procedures prior to taking up their designated positions.
