
Macomb Dakota Dominates Fraser in Swimming Showdown, Maintains Perfect Season
Macomb Dakota's boys swim and dive team continued its impressive undefeated streak, decisively defeating Fraser with a final score of 106-79. This victory propels the Cougars to a 5-0 overall record and a strong start in the Macomb Area Conference Red Division, standing at 1-0. The team showcased its depth and talent by securing wins in nine out of the twelve events contested.
Individually, Ben Struhar emerged as a standout performer, clinching double victories in the open events. He dominated the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.33 and showcased his prowess in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall first at 54.90 seconds. Nate Yearkey also delivered a stellar performance, earning gold in both the 50-yard freestyle (23.05 seconds) and the 100-yard freestyle (52.23 seconds).
The Cougars' dominance extended to other events. Dylan Jasman secured a win in the one-meter diving competition, accumulating an impressive 178.25 points. James DiNello claimed the top spot in the grueling 500-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 5:15.25. Kayden Paveluc added another victory for Dakota in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:03.74.
The strength of Dakota's relays was also evident, as they swept both the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.46) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:39.47).
Fraser, despite the loss, put up a competitive fight, bringing their season record to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Ramblers secured a victory in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.14. Individual wins for Fraser came from John Gauvin in the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.13) and Liam Keil in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.36).
Utica Eisenhower Dominates L'Anse Creuse North
In another MAC Red Division matchup, Utica Eisenhower showcased their swimming and diving supremacy by defeating Macomb L'Anse Creuse North with a commanding score of 110-70. The Eagles were in control from the outset, winning all three relay events and a total of 10 out of the 12 events contested.
Eisenhower's relay strength was undeniable, as they secured victories in the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.31), the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.94), and the meet-concluding 400-yard freestyle relay (3:43.14). These relay wins were crucial in establishing their significant lead over L'Anse Creuse North.
Individually, Simon Kristensen led the charge for Eisenhower, achieving double wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.69) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.47). Cooper McLean demonstrated his versatility and speed by winning the 50-yard freestyle (23.48 seconds) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.45). Owen Kristensen also proved to be a formidable competitor, earning victories in both the 100-yard freestyle (52.62 seconds) and the 100-yard backstroke (58.64 seconds). Gavin Lindsay further bolstered the Eagles' performance with a win in the one-meter diving event, scoring 195.15 points. Eisenhower's current standing is 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the MAC Red Division.
For L'Anse Creuse North, Sam Johnson stood out with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.45), while Nick Vaughn claimed the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.88). The Crusaders' record now stands at 3-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Girls Basketball: Yale Secures Decisive Victory Over Richmond
The Yale Bulldogs girls basketball team bounced back from their previous defeat to earn a convincing win against Richmond, with a final score of 45-16. This victory keeps Yale in a strong position in the Blue Water Area Conference (BWAC).
Sadie Dykstra was the leading scorer for Yale, contributing an impressive 13 points to the team's total. Aubree Churchill also had a significant offensive contribution, adding 12 points for the Bulldogs. Yale's current record is 10-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play. Richmond's Audrina Nader scored six points in the contest. The Bulldogs are now 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the BWAC.

Eastpointe Shamrocks Maintain Perfect Record
Eastpointe's boys basketball team is off to a blistering start in the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division, extending their undefeated streak to 5-0 with a victory over Marine City. The Shamrocks' fast-paced offense proved too much for their opponents.
Sophomore Je’sean Johnson was the offensive catalyst for Eastpointe, pouring in 25 points and dishing out five assists. Tre Canady provided strong support with 11 points and six rebounds, while Ryan Neal recorded a double-double, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks. Freshman Sterling Canady contributed nine points and three steals, and Tashaun Canady added seven points and four steals for the Shamrocks.
Imlay City Spartans Cruise to Massive Victory
Imlay City delivered a dominant performance against Algonac in BWAC play, securing a resounding 72-19 victory. The Spartans set the tone early, launching a 31-8 run in the first quarter and never looking back. Their offensive onslaught continued in the second quarter with a 22-3 run, leading to a commanding 53-11 halftime lead. The Spartans further extended their advantage with an 11-1 run in the third period, establishing a 64-12 lead heading into the final quarter.
Lavon Edwards was the high scorer for Imlay City with 16 points and five rebounds. Jalen Gauthier added 11 points and three blocks, while Trystan Whiting chipped in with 11 points and four assists. Sam Edson contributed nine points, four assists, and five steals. Brady Detwiler scored six points, and Isaac Sommer added five points and five steals for the Spartans.
Algonac, now 2-13 overall and 0-8 in the league, was led by Kane Sadowski with six points and five rebounds. Jaxon Shafer added four points for the Muskrats, who saw six players score in the game.
Detroit University Prep Art & Design Outlasts Center Line Prep Academy
Detroit University Prep Art and Design secured a non-conference victory over Center Line Prep Academy, with the final score of 94-79. The Art and Design team pulled away in the second half to seal the win, improving their overall record to 11-2. Center Line Prep Academy's record now stands at 3-8 overall.
Faith Home School Edges Faith Christian in Overtime Thriller
In a closely contested non-conference game, Lapeer Faith Home School emerged victorious over Clinton Township Faith Christian with a final score of 49-44 in overtime. Faith Home School outscored the Patriots 8-3 in the extra period to secure the win.
Faith Christian initially held a strong lead, ending the first quarter up 21-8. However, Faith Home School mounted a significant comeback in the second quarter with a 17-5 run, narrowing the deficit to 26-25 by halftime. Faith Home School continued their surge in the third quarter, outscoring Faith Christian 11-5 to take a 36-31 lead. Faith Christian, however, demonstrated resilience by closing regulation with a 10-5 run, forcing overtime at 41-41. Faith Home School ultimately prevailed in the overtime period. Faith Home School's record is now 6-6, while Faith Christian is 6-7.
